The differential diagnosis includes:

Primary adenocarcinoma of the urinary bladder.
Urachal adenocarcinoma.
Urothelial carcinoma with glandular component - where the conventional urothelial carcinoma is not sampled.

Metastatic adenocarcinoma (of the colorectum) is essentially excluded by the lack of nuclear beta-catenin staining.
