2008 w paleontologii

W 2008 opisano 28 rodzajów dinozaurów oraz odkryto kilka innych, m.in. dwa późnotriasowe teropody w cegielni w Lisowicach. Były to pierwsze dinozaury, których kości odnaleziono w Polsce. Dokonano wówczas również odkrycia największego znanego dicynodonta[1]. W Chinach znaleziono szkielet najmniejszego znanego nieptasiego dinozaura, opisanego w styczniu 2009 jako Anchiornis[2].

Dollodon bampingi restoration based on IRSNB 1551; more recent studies classify this specimen as Mantallisaurus.

• Based proportionally on a skeletal reconstruction by Gregroy Paul (2008).
• In the past this specimen (IRSNB 1551) has been placed in the genus Iguanodon, often refered to the as 'gracile Iguanodon'. In 2008 this particular specimen was reasigned to a new genus, Dollodon. [1] Later studies have cast doubt on the validy of Dollodon. [2][3][4][5]
• Derived Iguanodonts, known as Hadrosaurids, show small polygonal scales in the skin. [6]
• The colours and/or patterns, as with nearly all reconstructions of prehistoric creatures, are speculative.
