Zasięg występowania

Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące w zachodniej Ameryce Północnej (Stany Zjednoczone i Meksyk)^[3]^[4].

Actinemys: gr. ακτις aktis, ακτινος aktinos „promień, blask”^[5]; εμυς emus, εμυδος emudos „żółw wodny”^[6].
