Charakterystyka
A521 jest pierwszym samochodem marki Alpine startującym w mistrzostwach świata Formuły 1. Oznaczenie modelu ma korzenie w samochodzie Alpine A500, testowanym w 1976 roku. W przeciwieństwie do bezpośredniego poprzednika (Renault R.S.20) A521 został pomalowany w barwy francuskiej flagi[1].
Pojazd został oparty na Renault R.S.20, ale w stosunku do niego ma rozwiniętą aerodynamikę oraz zmienioną sekcję tylną. Zdecydowano się także na zastosowanie szerokiej pokrywy silnika Renault, który również jest rozwinięciem jednostki z 2020 roku[1].
