Bradford – miasto (city) w Wielkiej Brytanii, w Anglii, położone w hrabstwie ceremonialnym i metropolitalnym West Yorkshire, w dystrykcie metropolitalnym City of Bradford, około 26 km na zachód od Leeds.

W 2017 Bradford liczył 263 707 mieszkańców, a dystrykt metropolitalny City of Bradford, obejmujący między innymi miasta: Bingley, Ilkley, Shipley i Keighley liczył 534 800 mieszkańców[2].

W pobliżu funkcjonuje międzynarodowy port lotniczy Leeds/Bradford.

Historia

W przeszłości ważny ośrodek przemysłu włókienniczego – w 1311 zarejestrowano w Bradford folusz[3].

W 1900 miasto stanowiło centralny ośrodek skupu wełny i tkanin w Yorkshire[3]. Rozwój handlu zapewniał napływ zagranicznych kupców (głównie Żydów z Niemiec)[3]. Pod koniec XX wieku przemysł włókienniczy stracił na znaczeniu i nastąpił rozkwit w sektorze papierniczym (opakowania, druk) oraz usług inżynierskich[3].

Miasto leży na Europejskim Szlaku Dziedzictwa Przemysłowego. Do najważniejszych zabytków i atrakcji turystycznych w Bradford należy:

  • ratusz wybudowany w stylu włoskim[3];
  • Wool Exchange wybudowany w stylu wenecko–gotyckim[3];
  • katedra (Cathedral Church of St Peter), datowana na XV wiek[3];

The Coat of arms of Bradford City Council, the local government authority for the City of Bradford, in West Yorkshire, England. The blazon is:
*ARMS: Per pale Gules and Azure on a Chevron engrailed between in chief two Buglehorns stringed and in base a Fleece Or a Fountain the whole within a Bordure gobony of the first and Argent charged on the Gules with eleven Roses of the last barbed and seeded proper.
*CREST: Upon a Mural Crown per pale Gules and Azure a Boar's Head sans Tongue erased Or; Mantled Azure and Gules doubled Or.
