War memorial and Bredgar House. Looking east from Gore Road. The concrete truncated cones by the war memorial are wartime tank traps. Bredgar House was purchased in 1867 by a wholesale ironmonger and brassfounder from London called Comyn Ching who had such a large family he raised the roof and added a third storey to house them all. His company, which supplied the railings for London's Royal parks, is still going strong with a Comyn Ching at the helm.
