Sezon 1986 w PPG CART Indy Car World Series był ósmą edycją tej serii wyścigowej. Rozpoczął się 6 kwietnia a zakończył się po 17 wyścigach 9 listopada.
Tytuł mistrzowski zdobył Bobby Rahal z zespołu Truesports wyprzedzając w klasyfikacji generalnej o osiem punktów Michaela Andrettiego. Tytuł najlepszego nowicjusza (Rookie of the year) zdobył Chip Robinson.
