Centre National d’Études Spatiales
CNES (fr. Centre National d’Études Spatiales, Państwowy Ośrodek Badań Kosmicznych) – francuska organizacja rządowa odpowiedzialna za rozwój badań kosmicznych. Koordynuje i organizuje badania przy użyciu sztucznych satelitów Ziemi, rakiet sondażowych i balonów stratosferycznych oraz kieruje produkcją tych obiektów i rakiet nośnych.
CNES zajmuje się badaniami, scalaniem materiałów zamawianych w przedsiębiorstwach przemysłowych oraz operacjami wysyłania rakiet i obiektów kosmicznych.

- Centre Spatial de Toulouse (ośrodek kosmiczny w Tuluzie), kierujący realizacją programów ładunków użytkowych (głowic rakietowych, sztucznych satelitów itd.)
- Centre Spatial de Brétigny (ośrodek kosmiczny w Brétigny), kierujący realizacją programów rakiet nośnych i wyposażenia naziemnego, a także umożliwiający realizację operacji CNES w zakresie śledzenia i zdalnego kierowania obiektów kosmicznych oraz odbioru i przetwarzania informacji
- Centre Spatial Guyanais – Gujańskie Centrum Kosmiczne (kosmodrom w Gujanie Francuskiej)

The navy blue wheel in the center of the flag has a diameter approximately the width of the white band and is called Ashoka's Dharma Chakra, with 24 spokes (after Ashoka, the Great). Each spoke depicts one hour of the day, portraying the prevalence of righteousness all 24 hours of it.
