Od 2006 zawodnik zespołu NHL, St. Louis Blues. W listopadzie 2010 przedłużył kontrakt z klubem o pięć lat[1]. Od lipca 2016 zawodnik Boston Bruins, związany pięcioletnim kontraktem[2]. W lutym 2020 przeszedł do Anaheim Ducks[3].
Uczestniczył w turniejach mistrzostw świata w 2007, 2008, 2009, zimowych igrzysk olimpijskich 2010, 2014, Pucharu Świata 2016.
