Douglas Craig Emhoff, Doug Emhoff (ur. 13 października 1964 w Nowym Jorku) – amerykański prawnik pochodzenia żydowskiego, od 2021 drugi dżentelmen Stanów Zjednoczonych, małżonek 49. wiceprezydent Stanów Zjednoczonych Kamali Harris.

Życiorys

Młodość i edukacja

Urodził się na nowojorskim Brooklynie[1] jako syn Żydów – Barbary i Michaela Emhoff[2]. Ma młodszego brata Andy’ego i starszą siostrę Jamie[3]. W latach 1969–1981 dorastał w New Jersey[4]. Uczęszczał do Cedar Ridge High School(ang.)[5]. W wieku 17 lat przeniósł się wraz z rodziną do Kalifornii[6]. Został absolwentem Agoura High School(ang.)[7]. Zdobył tytuł Bachelor of Arts na California State University w Northridge(ang.) oraz Juris Doctor na USC Gould School of Law(ang.)[8].

Kariera prawnicza

Rozpoczął karierę w kancelarii prawnej Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman(ang.)[9]. Pod koniec lat 90. XX wieku rozpoczął pracę w Belin Rawlings & Badal[10]. W 2000 roku wraz z Benem Whitwellem otworzył własną kancelarię prawną, która sześć lat później została przejęta przez Venable LLP(ang.)[11][12]. Wśród jego klientów znalazły się takie firmy jak Merck & Co. i Walmart[13]. Po ogłoszeniu kandydatury Kamali Harris na prezydenta Stanów Zjednoczonych, Douglas Emhoff wziął bezpłatny urlop[14].

Drugi dżentelmen Stanów Zjednoczonych

11 sierpnia 2020 Joe Biden ogłosił Kamalę Harris swoją kandydatką na urząd wiceprezydenta Stanów Zjednoczonych w wyborach prezydenckich w Stanach Zjednoczonych w 2020 roku[15]. 14 grudnia 2020 Kamala Harris została wybrana przez Kolegium Elektorów wiceprezydent Stanów Zjednoczonych[16]. Po objęciu urzędu przez żonę, Douglas Emhoff został pierwszą osobą pochodzenia żydowskiego i pierwszym mężczyzną, będącym małżonkiem wiceprezydenta USA[14].

Życie prywatne

Od 1992 roku był mężem Kerstin Mackin, mają dwójkę dzieci – Colego i Ellę[14][17], rozwiedli się w 2008 roku[9]. 22 sierpnia 2014 w Santa Barbara Douglas Emhoff poślubił Kamalę Harris[3].

The Coat of Arms of the Vice President of the United States shall be of the following design:

The design is the same as the Seal of the President of the United States, except that there is no ring of stars, the clouds are gray (instead of proper), the stars are gray (instead of argent), the scroll is gray (instead of white), the arrows are gray (instead of proper), and the background colors and inscription (obviously) differ.
