The banner of arms of the municipality of Täby in Stockholm County, Sweden. According to currently valid heraldic norms and traditions, the correct flag of a Swedish municipality is the so called banner of arms. A banner of arms is essentially a coat of arms in flag form. It must not show the outer shield shape that coats of arms are otherwise shown with, but other than that, it features the same tinctures, divisions, and charges as the coat of arms which it is based upon, adapted so that the contents satisfyingly take up the available area.

The banner of arms stands in contrast to certain incorrect types of flags, such as ones displaying the coat of arms as an escutcheon upon a bland background. Such flags, as well as flags with logos, are inappropriate from various standpoints, including but not limited to heraldic, graphical, vexillological, and traditionalistic ones. Despite this, some municipalities utilize these incorrect flags, instead of the correct banners of arms.

In Sweden, municipal arms and their corresponding flags represent not only municipal authority, but also municipalities as geographies. The heraldically correct flag of a municipality may be used by members of the general public as an expression of identity or municipal belonging, as long as proper procedures and customs are followed. The person flying the flag does not need acquire permission.

The heraldic charge used in the arms of Täby is inspired by a cross featuring on the Risbyle Runestone. The design is by extension also meant to represent Täby's wealth of ancient monuments in general, not the least (christian) runestones. Originally, the arms were confirmed by the King in Council for the municipalsamhälle (≈municipal urban area) of Täby, with the blazon: "In a blue field a cross crosslet with rounded arms of silver." The confirmation was carried out on December 30, 1937. The same year also marked the 10th anniversary of Täby's status as a municipalsamhälle, which would last until 1948, when the encompassing rural municipality was reorganized into the market town of Täby, which took over the arms.

The armorial registration, which currently applies to Täby Municipality, occurred on January 11, 1974, as a result of the municipal reforms of the 1970s and changes to regulations regarding civic heraldry made during the same period. The blazon is the same as the one from 1937.
