Nazwa miasta pochodzi od nazwiska jego założyciela Franciszka Gryglaszewskiego (1847-1918), używającego w USA skróconej formy imienia i nazwiska Frank Grygla, działacza Polonii amerykańskiej, jednego z "ojców założycieli" Związku Narodowego Polskiego.
