Herb Seszeli – herb Seszeli przyjęty w 1996 roku.

Opis

Herb przedstawia tarczę, na której widoczny jest żółw olbrzymi na trawie. Jest on symbolem fauny Seszeli[1]. Za żółwiem znajduje się palma lodoicja seszelska. W tle widoczne jest niebieskie morze z wyspą oraz statkiem.

Nad tarczą hełm, zawój i klejnot. Ponad nimi znajduje się rysunek faetona żółtodziobego (Phaethon lepturus lepturus), który niektórym przypomina mewę[2]. Trzymaczami są dwie żaglice[1]. Pod tarczą znajduje się wstęga z dewizą Seszeli: Finis Coronat Opus (łac. „Koniec wieńczy dzieło”).

W 1996 roku kolory herbu zmieniono na jaśniejsze. Zmieniono zawój z biało-niebiesko-czerwonego (w oparciu o starszą flagę Seszeli) na niebiesko-żółto-czerwono-biało-zieloną (kolor obecnej flagi Seszeli).

Heraldic description of the Armorial Bearings of the Republic of the Seychelles:
  • ARMS: Azure, a Female Coco de Mer Palm (Lodoicea maldivica) issuant from the base a grassy mount thereon a Giant Tortoise (Testudo gigantea) the whole in front of water rising therefrom to the dexter an Island and sailing thereon a two-masted Schooner in full sail all proper.
  • CREST: Upon a wreath Azure, Or, Gules, Argent and Vert above water barry wavy Azure and Argent a White Tailed Tropic Bird (Phaeton lepturus lepturus) volant proper.
  • SUPPORTERS: On either side a Sail Fish (Istiophorus gladius) proper
  • MOTTO: "FINIS CORONAT OPUS" (can be loosely translated as "The End Crowns the Work".)

Adopted on 27 May 1976 used until 1996; the coat of arms of the Republic of Seychelles shows a shield, with a majestic cocodemer tree, laden with 8 nuts (the largest in the world). At the bottom of the shield stands a giant tortoise, with argent shell, on green ground. In the background is found a blue sea, two green islands, and a red ship, sailing Dexter. The shield is enthroned by a argent helmet, of gules, azure and argent mantling. The crest is a white tropicbird, flying above a gules, azure and argent torse. The shield supporters are two mighty swordfish. Beneath the shield the motto of Seychelles is blazoned: "Finis Coronat Opus" (Latin for "The End Crowns the Work").
