Hrabstwo Deaf Smith – hrabstwo położone w Stanach Zjednoczonych, w północno-zachodniej części stanu Teksas, przy granicy z Nowym Meksykiem. Hrabstwo leży na zachodnim krańcu Llano Estacado[2]. Hrabstwo utworzono w 1876 roku poprzez wydzielenie terenu z terytorium Younga, jednak później podlegało jeszcze zmianom a ostateczny, obecny kształt uzyskało dopiero w 1931 roku[1]. Siedzibą władz hrabstwa jest jedyne miasto Hereford, zamieszkałe przez około 80% mieszkańców hrabstwa[3].

Gospodarka

W 2017 roku z pogłowiem bydła liczącym 592 tys. sztuk hrabstwo zajmuje pierwsze miejsce w Stanach Zjednoczonych, zaś samo miasto Hereford nazywane jest „Światową Stolicą Wołowiny”[4][5]. Pastwiska zajmują 34% areału hrabstwa, a reszta to głównie obszary uprawne. Do najważniejszych upraw należą pszenica, sorgo, bawełna, pasza i kukurydza[4].

W 2020 roku 94,1% mieszkańców hrabstwa stanowiła ludność biała (23,2% nie licząc Latynosów), 2,3% to byli czarnoskórzy Amerykanie lub Afroamerykanie, 1,8% to rdzenna ludność Ameryki, 1,2% było rasy mieszanej i 0,6% to byli Azjaci. Latynosi stanowili 74,2% ludności hrabstwa[3].

Religia

W 2010 roku krajobraz religijny hrabstwa jest mniej więcej po równo podzielony między katolików (43%) i protestantów. Inne religie to mormoni (1,7%), świadkowie Jehowy (1 zbór) i bahaiści (0,06%)[6].
