Według danych z 2010 r. hrabstwo miało 1 820 584 mieszkańców[2]. Hrabstwo powstało w 1796 roku i nosi imię Anthony’ego Wayne’a, generała armii Stanów Zjednoczonych w wojnie o niepodległość Stanów Zjednoczonych.
