Igrzyska Wspólnoty Narodów 2002 odbyły się w Manchesterze. Trwały od 25 lipca do 4 sierpnia 2002 roku. Wystartowało 3863 sportowców z 72 krajów, w tym tylko jedna reprezentacja, która wystartowała pierwszy raz w historii. Była to wyspa Niue. Sportowcy rywalizowali w 14 indywidualnych konkurencjach i po raz pierwszy w historii igrzysk, w trzech konkurencjach zespołowych (hokej na trawie, rugby i netball). Impreza została oficjalnie otwarta przez królową Elżbietę II.

The Flag of India. The colours are saffron, white and green. The navy blue wheel in the center of the flag has a diameter approximately the width of the white band and is called Ashoka's Dharma Chakra, with 24 spokes (after Ashoka, the Great). Each spoke depicts one hour of the day, portraying the prevalence of righteousness all 24 hours of it.
