23 maja 2014 w miasteczku doszło do masakry. 22-letni Elliot Rodger zabił na terenie kampusu uniwersyteckiego UCSB 6 osób i zranił 14 innych, po czym popełnił samobójstwo.

The flag of Navassa Island is simply the United States flag. It does not have a "local" flag or "unofficial" flag; it is an uninhabited island. The version with a profile view was based on Flags of the World and as a fictional design has no status warranting a place on any Wiki. The tree fell off the edge of the bluff, and now there is only a plaque to commerorate it. The log of this tree recurs in a number of the community building efforts for Isla Vista.
