James Allen Whitmore Jr. (ur. 1 października 1921 w White Plains, zm. 6 lutego 2009 w Malibu) – amerykański aktor filmowy, teatralny i telewizyjny.
Życiorys
Na ekranie debiutował w 1949. Znany z charakterystycznych ról drugoplanowych; największą popularność i sympatię widzów przyniosła mu rola w filmie Skazani na Shawshank (1994; reż. Frank Darabont). Był dwukrotnie nominowany do Oscara. W 1950 za drugoplanową rolę w filmie Pole bitwy (1949; reż. William A. Wellman) oraz w 1976 za pierwszoplanową rolę w filmie biograficznym Give ’em Hell, Harry! (1975), w którym zagrał prezydenta USA Harry’ego Trumana.
Zmarł na raka płuca, w swoim domu w Malibu[1].
