Kariera
Toronto Nationals Mdgt AAA (2007-2008)- Kitchener Rangers (2008-2010)
Carolina Hurricanes (2010-2018)- Buffalo Sabres (2018-)
Przez dwa sezony grał w lidze OHL w ramach CHL. W drafcie NHL z NHL Entry Draft 2010 został wybrany przez Carolina Hurricanes z numerem 7. We wrześniu został zawodnikiem tego klubu[1] i od tego czasu gra w NHL. W sierpniu 2012 przedłużył kontrakt o sześć lat[2]. W sierpniu 2018 został przetransferowany do Buffalo Sabres w zamian za Cliff Pu, 2 rundę draftu (2019), 3 i 6 rundę draftu (2020)[3]. W czerwcu 2019 przedłużył kontrakt z klubem o osiem lat[4].
Uczestniczył w turniejach mistrzostw świata w 2011, 2012, 2013, 2017.
