III Letnie Igrzyska Olimpijskie (oficjalnie Igrzyska III Olimpiady) zostały rozegrane w amerykańskim mieście Saint Louis. Zostały otwarte 1 lipca, i trwały aż do 23 listopada. Wzięło w nich udział 12 reprezentacji. Patronem igrzysk był prezydent Stanów Zjednoczonych Theodore Roosevelt.
Igrzyska te były imprezą towarzyszącą wystawie światowej, zorganizowanej dla uczczenia setnej rocznicy zakupu przez Stany Zjednoczone terytorium Luizjany. Z tego też powodu Międzynarodowy Komitet Olimpijski zmienił pierwotnie planowane miejsce rozegrania olimpiady – Chicago. Połączenie dwóch wielkich wydarzeń obniżyło rangę igrzysk. W igrzyskach tych wzięło udział niewielu zawodników spoza kontynentu; odległe położenie Saint Louis i wzrost napięcia w Europie, wywołanego wojną rosyjsko-japońską, spowodowały, że wielu czołowych sportowców nie zdecydowało się na start.
