London Borough of Croydon – jedna z 32 gmin Wielkiego Londynu położona w jego południowej części. Wraz z 19 innymi gminami wchodzi w skład tzw. Londynu Zewnętrznego. Władzę stanowi Rada Gminy Croydon (ang. Croydon Council).

Historia

Gminę utworzono w 1965 roku na podstawie ustawy London Government Act 1963[2] z obszarów Coulsdon and Purley (ang. Coulsdon and Purley Urban District)[3] utworzonego w 1915 roku i Croydon (ang. County Borough of Croydon) utworzonego w 1889 roku[4]. Z Croydon do Wandsworth kursowała Surrey Iron Railway pierwsza kolej użytku publicznego na świecie (dla przewozu towarów), zamknięta w 1856 roku[5]. Na terenie Croydon znajdowały się jedne z głównych lotnisk na których stacjonowaly dywizjony strzegące Londyn w trakcie Bitwy o Anglię - RAF Station Kenley (Kenley Aerodrome) i Croydon Airport.

Geografia

Gmina Croydon ma powierzchnię 86,52 km², graniczy od północy z Lambeth, od północnego wschodu w obrębie jednego skrzyżowania z Southwark, od zachodu z Merton i Sutton, od wschodu z Bromley, zaś od południa kolejno z dystryktami Reigate and Banstead i Tandridge w hrabstwie Surrey.

The version with a profile view was based on Flags of the World and as a fictional design has no status warranting a place on any Wiki. It was made up by a random person with no connection to the island, it has never flown on the island, and it has never received any sort of recognition or validation by any authority. The person quoted on that page has no authority to bestow a flag, "unofficial" or otherwise, on the island.

After engineers worked through the night, trams recommenced the services, via Reeves Corner, on 12th August. To the right of the tram, stood the Reeves family furniture store; destroyed by arson, during the riots of 8th August 2011. The arsonist, Gordon Thompson, was sentenced to 11 years and 6 months in prison.

This building, now a school, was one of the five Palaces successively or concurrently owned by the Archbishop of Canterbury before the Dissolution, the others being Lambeth (still today with some with the church's main offices and as a meeting place for bishops), Otford, Maidstone and Charing.

Croydon Parish Church is a Grade I listed church. Severely fire damaged in 1867, the church was rebuilt under the direction of George Gilbert Scott.
