London Borough of Newham – jedna z 32 gmin Wielkiego Londynu położona w jego wschodniej części. Wraz z 19 innymi gminami wchodzi w skład tzw. Londynu Zewnętrznego. Władzę stanowi Rada Gminy Newham (ang. Newham Council).
Gmina Newham była jedną z sześciu pełniących rolę gospodarza Letnich Igrzysk Olimpijskich w 2012 roku[3].
Historia
Gminę utworzono w 1965 na podstawie ustawy London Government Act 1963[4] z gmin East Ham (ang. County Borough of East Ham) utworzonej w 1915 roku[5], West Ham (ang. County Borough of West Ham) utworzonej w 1889[6] oraz z dystryktu North Woolwich z Metropolitan Borough of Woolwich który utworzono w 1900 roku w ramach podziału hrabstwa County of London na 28 gmin[7].
Geografia
Gmina Newham ma powierzchnię 36,22 km2, graniczy od wschodu z Barking and Dagenham, od zachodu z Tower Hamlets i Hackney, od północy z Waltham Forest i Redbridge, zaś od południa przez Tamizę z Greenwich.

Gmina dzieli się na 20 okręgów wyborczych[8] które nie pokrywają się dokładnie z podziałem na obszary, zaś mieszczą się w dwóch rejonach tzw. borough constituencies – East Ham i West Ham[9].

Demografia
W 2011 roku gmina Newham miała 307 984 mieszkańców[10]. Według spisu ludności z 2011 roku Newham charakteryzuje się jedną z najwyższych populacji młodzieży i jest to ludność kolorowa. W Newham jest najmniej procentowo ludzi białej rasy w całym kraju. Więcej niż 70% ludności stanowią kolorowi. Dzielnica jest także drugą pod względem ilości muzułmanów (32%). Według Simpson's Diversity Index, na 10 rozważanych grup etnicznych w spisie ludności z 2001 roku stwierdzono, iż Newham jest najbardziej zróżnicowanym okręgiem w Anglii i Walii. Gminę zamieszkuje więcej niż 30 różnych społeczności etnicznych.

Na terenie Newham znajduje się port lotniczy Londyn-City.
W 2012 roku oddano do użytku kolejkę gondolową nad Tamizą o długości pół kilometra, która połączyła Newham z Greenwich[14].
Przez Newham przebiegają cztery linie metra: Central Line, District Line, Hammersmith & City Line i Jubilee Line.

The Flag of India. The colours are saffron, white and green. The navy blue wheel in the center of the flag has a diameter approximately the width of the white band and is called Ashoka's Dharma Chakra, with 24 spokes (after Ashoka, the Great). The flag of Navassa Island is simply the United States flag. It does not have a "local" flag or "unofficial" flag; it is an uninhabited island. The version with a profile view was based on Flags of the World and as a fictional design has no status warranting a place on any Wiki. It was made up by a random person with no connection to the island, it has never flown on the island, and it has never received any sort of recognition or validation by any authority. The person quoted on that page has no authority to bestow a flag, "unofficial" or otherwise, on the island.

The new Thames cable car, spanning the river, opened to the public on 28th June 2012. The Emirates Air Line links the O2 Arena in Greenwich, south-east London, with the ExCel exhibition centre at the Royal Docks in east London. The service can carry 2,500 people an hour. A single adult fare on the pay-as-you-go Oyster card will cost £3.20 while the cash fare is £4.30. But the fares are not included in travelcards or Oyster capping. The service will operate through the week from 07:00 until 21:00. The gates will open an hour later on Saturdays while the service will run from 09:00 on Sundays. Passengers will also be able to make a non-stop round trip on the cable car, with views of the City, Canary Wharf, the Thames Barrier and the Olympic Park, at a cost of £6.40 with Oyster. But Transport for London said a one-way journey at peak time will be between four and five minutes long, but off-peak the same journey will last about 10 minutes. The Dubai-based airline Emirates is sponsoring the cable car for 10 years at a cost of £36m. The total cost of the project is about £60m, £45m of which went towards building it.
