Mary^[8] (Dolichotinae) – monotypowa podrodzina ssaków z rodziny kawiowatych (Caviidae).

Zasięg występowania

Podrodzina obejmuje gatunki występujące w Ameryce Południowej (Boliwia, Paragwaj i Argentyna)^[9]^[10]^[11].

Morfologia

Długość ciała (bez ogona) 420–800 mm, długość ogona 19–40 mm, długość tylnej stopy 91–160 mm, długość ucha 58–103 mm; masa ciała 1,8–9 kg^[10].

Systematyka

Etymologia

Dolichotis: gr. δολιχος dolikhos „długi”; ους ous, ωτος ōtos „ucho”^[12].
Chloromys: gr. χλωρος khlōros „zielony”; μυς mus, μυος muos „mysz”^[13]. Gatunek typowy: Cavia patachonica Shaw, 1801 (= Cavia patagonum Zimmermann, 1780).
Mara: nazwa mara oznaczająca w językach araukańskich „marę”^[14]. Gatunek typowy: Cavia patachonica Shaw, 1801 (= Cavia patagonum Zimmermann, 1780).
Pediolagus: gr. πεδιον pedion „równina”, od πεδον pedon „ziemia, grunt”, od πους pous, ποδος podos „stopa”^[15]; λαγως lagōs „zając”^[16]. Gatunek typowy: Dolichotis centralis Weyenbergh, 1877 (= Dolichotis salinicola Burmeister, 1876).
Lagospedius: gr. λαγως lagōs „zając”; πεδιος pedios „mieszkaniec równin”^[15]. Gatunek typowy: Dolichotis centralis Weyenbergh, 1877 (= Dolichotis salinicola Burmeister, 1876)
