Lars Mikael Åkerfeldt[1] (ur. 17 kwietnia 1974 w Sztokholmie[2]) – szwedzki muzyk metalowy, lider, gitarzysta i wokalista zespołu Opeth[3]. Były wokalista grupy Bloodbath[4].

Sam był założycielem zespołu Eruption, który jednak nie opublikował żadnych nagrań. Później został przyjęty do zespołu Opeth jako basista. Wkrótce jednak Opeth przeszedł głęboki kryzys związany właśnie z przyjęciem Mikaela do zespołu, byli członkowie stworzyli nową grupę natomiast Åkerfeldt wraz z Davidem Isbergiem (jednym z założycieli Opeth) zaczęli poszukiwania pełnego składu.

W 2004 roku muzyk wraz z Peterem Lindgrenem został sklasyfikowany na 42. miejscu listy 100 najlepszych gitarzystów heavymetalowych wszech czasów według magazynu Guitar World[5].

Żonaty, ma dwoje dzieci[6]. Nie praktykuje żadnej religii, deklaruje się jako ateista[7].
