8. Mistrzostwa świata w łyżwiarstwie szybkim w wieloboju sprinterskim odbyły się w Alkmaarze, w Holandii, w dniach 26–27 marca 1977. Zawody rozegrano na sztucznym torze na IJsstadion De Meent. Zawodnicy dwukrotnie startowali na dystansach 500 i 1000 metrów. Zwycięstwo odnieśli: Kanadyjka Sylvia Burka oraz Amerykanin Eric Heiden.
Uczestnicy
W zawodach wzięły udział 23 łyżwiarki i 29 łyżwiarzy z 15 krajów. Wszyscy zostali sklasyfikowani.
