14. Mistrzostwa świata w łyżwiarstwie szybkim w wieloboju sprinterskim odbyły się w Helsinkach, w Finlandii, w dniach 26–27 lutego 1983. Zawody rozegrano na sztucznym torze Oulunkylä. Zawodnicy dwukrotnie startowali na dystansach 500 i 1000 metrów. Pierwsze miejsce zajęli: reprezentantka NRD Karin Enke oraz Japończyk Akira Kuroiwa.
