21. Mistrzostwa świata w kajakarstwie górskim odbyły się w dniach 15–25 czerwca 1989 w amerykańskim Savage River. Zawodnicy rywalizowali ze sobą w ośmiu konkurencjach: czterech indywidualnych i czterech drużynowych.
