45. mistrzostwa Europy w łyżwiarstwie szybkim w wieloboju odbyły się w dniach 14–15 lutego 1948 roku w Hamar, w Norwegii. Łyżwiarze startowali na stadionie Hamar po raz 5 (wcześniej w 1894, 1911, 1923 i 1934). W zawodach brali udział tylko mężczyźni. Zawodnicy startowali na czterech dystansach: 500 m, 1500 m, 5000 m i 10000 m. Do biegu na 10000 m awansowało tylko najlepsza 12 po trzech dystansach. Najlepszy rezultat osiągnął Norweg Reidar Liaklev.

W zawodach wzięło udział 30 łyżwiarzy z 10 krajów. Sklasyfikowanych zostało 29.
