Pchnięcie kulą mężczyzn było jedną z konkurencji rozgrywanych podczas XIII mistrzostw Europy w Atenach. Kwalifikacje rozegrano 8 września, a finał 9 września 1982 roku. Zwycięzcą tej konkurencji został reprezentant Niemieckiej Republiki Demokratycznej Udo Beyer. W rywalizacji wzięło udział dwudziestu zawodników z jedenastu reprezentacji.

ADN-ZB Settnik 8.6.86 Neubrandenburg: Europameisterschafts-Qualifikation der DDR-Leichtathleten- In Abwesenheit des Weltrekordlers Ulf Timmermann (TSC Berlin) siegte der 30jährige Potsdamer ASK-Sportler Udo Beyer am 7.6.86 mit der ausgezeichneten Weite von 21,86 m im Kugelstoßen. Mit 21,39, 20,98 und 21,45 m wurden für den Ex-Weltrekordler weitere nicht alltägliche Leistungen registriert.
