Tytułu mistrza olimpijskiego z 2002 r. nie obronił Janne Lahtela z Finlandii, który zajął 16. miejsce. Tym razem zwyciężył Australijczyk Dale Begg-Smith, drugi był Fin Mikko Ronkainen, a brąz wywalczył Amerykanin Toby Dawson.
