Bangladesh has three world heritage sites. The Shat Gombuj Mosque in Bagerhat is one of them. It is a 15th century Islamic edifice situated in the suburbs of Bagerhat (a district in Khulna Division), on the edge of the Sundarbans, some 175 km south west of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. It is an enormous Moghol architectural site covering a very large area (160 x 108) square feet. The mosque is unique in that, it has sixty pillars, which support eighty one (81) exquisitely curved domes that have worn away with the passage of time. The structure of the building also represents the 15th century Turki architectural view.

An elaborate performance of Korean ancient court music (with accompanying dance) known as Jongmyo jeryeak (hangul: 종묘제례악; hanja: 宗廟祭禮樂) is performed there each year in May. Musicians, dancers, and scholars would perform Confucian rituals, such as the Jongmyo Daeje (Royal Shrine Ritual) in the courtyard five times a year. Today the rituals have been reconstructed and revived. The Jongmyo Daeje has been designated as Important Intangible Cultural Property No. 56.

Shore Temple in Mahabalipuram -India
The history of Mahabalipuram dates back to two thousand years, it contains nearly forty monuments of different types including an "open air bas relief" which is the largest in the world, for centuries it has been a centre of pilgrimage, it figures in the early annals of the British search for the picturesque in India in the 18th century, today it attracts shoals of foreigners in search of relaxation and sea bathing, and most strange of all, it has an atomic power plant for neighbour. A small library has been written on it. Over its history and that of its monuments a number of scholarly controversies rage.
Mahabalipuram was already a centre of pilgrimage when, in the 7th century Mamalla made it a seaport and began to make temples fashioned of rock. It was through Mahabalipuram that many Indian colonists, who included sages and artists, migrated to Southeast Asia. Sri Lanka's national chronicle, the "Mahavamsa" testifies to this fact. Name Of The Site The proper name of the site is "Mamallapuram", after Mamalla, an honorific of the Pallava king, Narasimha Varman I (630-668), who created the earliest of its monuments. But it is popularly called "Mahabalipuram", or "The city of Bali", whom Lord Vishnu chastised for his pride and of whom there is a relief in one of the excavated temples here.
Temples In Mahabalipuram There are, or rather were, two low hills in Mahabalipuram, about 400m from the sea. In the larger one, on both sides, there are eleven excavated temples, called Mandapas, two "open air bas reliefs", one of which is unfinished, and a third enclosed one. Out of a big rock standing free nearby there is a "cut out" temple, called a "Ratha". This type is unique to Mahabalipuram.
Out of the other hill, much smaller and standing about 200m to the south, are fashioned five more rathas, and three big sculptures of a Nandi, a Loin and an Elephant. On the top of the bigger hill there is a structural temple, and a little distance the magnificent beginnings of a Vijayanagar Gopura and also survivals of what is believed to be a palace. The Five Rathas - The Dharmaraja, The Bhima, The Arjuna, The Draupadi and The Sahadeva The Five Rathas, about 200 m south of the main hill, were fashioned out of a smaller hill sloping down from the south. From the largest part was made the biggest of the five rathas, the Dharmaraja. Then followed onwards north, in the descending order of height, the Bhima, the Arjuna and the Draupadi.
A little to the west of Draupadi there was a comparatively large rock and out of it the Sahadeva Ratha was made. Immediately in front of the Draupadi again two smaller rocks were sculptured into an elephant and a lion. Behind the Draupadi and the Arjuna, which stand on a common base, there is a Nandi.Autor: 663highland, Licencja: CC BY 2.5

According to popular legend, Sana'a was founded by Shem, the son of Noah, not far from the mountain where Noah's ark came to rest when the flood subsided. Yemenis thus claim it to be the oldest living city in the world - upto 10,000 years old, and known to have been inhabited for over 2,500 years. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the walled city's 6,500 houses and more than 100 mosques make it a living museum of traditional styles.
It was never easy to reach this "Hidden Jewel of Arabia" which is situated in the heart of mountainous Yemen. Yet those who did manage to complete the dangerous and tiresome journey on donkey or camel-back from the distant coast were awestruck and inspired by the city's tall, beautifully decorated buildings, its well-stocked markets and imposing walls, gates and fortifications.Autor: Raveesh Vyas, Licencja: CC BY-SA 2.0
This is the only painting at Bhimbetka which shows man being the hunted instead of being the hunter.
Tip for people who may want to go there: There are guides available from the Madhya Pradesh State Department of Tourism at that site. Be careful though. Those guys would probably show you only a small part of that area and not the whole place. In case you want to see all the paintings, do not hesitate to take the lead and wander off into other places which the guide didn't show you(only where the walkways go though; don't wander off into the bushes :P).
In fact, this is how I got this picture. It was little away from the main area where most of the paintings are.Autor: © 2001 User:China_Crisis, Licencja: CC BY-SA 2.0

Qal`at al-Bahrain (english:) is an archaeological site located in Bahrain. It is composed of an artificial mound created by human inhabitants from 2300 BC up to the 1700's. Among other things, it was once the capital of the Dilmun civilization, and served more recently as a Portuguese fort. For these reasons, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005.

This Mausoleum was built for Baha al-Din Ayaz, successor Mahmud b. Ahmad al-Qusi al-Qalhati the founder of the Hormuz empire which flourished in the 8th/14th century. The mausoleum was built by the wife of Baha al-Din, Maryam, and is thus call the Bibi Maryam mausoleum. It is located on the Omani coast south of Muscat near the medieval city of Qalhat. The city was described by Marco Polo and visited by Ibn Battuta in the second quarter of the fourteenth century. Ibn Battuta describes a Congregational Mosque in Qalhat which some scholars think he confused with the Bibi Maryam mausoleum.

The main structure (Ming Lou) of the Ming Xiaoling mausoleum complex. It forms part of the front slope of the Lone Dragon Hill (Du Long Fu), the tumulus under which the Hogwu Emperor is supposed to have been buried. Note that on this picture (from 2000) the structure lacks the ornate pavilion on top, which must have been rebuilt some time before 2000 and 2010.

Ban Chiang Thailand, archeological site in North East Thailand. Unesco World Heritage site. Famous for its red pottery. Civilization that lived in Asia 5,000 years ago, and worked in Bronze. Originally thought to be a backwater area of the world in Asia, bronze metal working emerged at the same time as in the middle east, surprising archeologists. The original Ban Chiang people moved on, migrated or were pushed out of the area 1000 years ago. Today's Thai people migrated down from southern China starting 1,000 years ago. Cyrus the great's private palace at Pasargadae. This palace is one of the two first builded in the emerging capital of the founder of the new persian empire. Before Pasargadae, the persian who were nomadic shepperds, had no real architectural traditions of stone and columned palaces. Pasargade changed that, and shows the first attempts to set the persian achaemenian architectural style: Mesopotamian palatial formula associating 2 palaces, one for the audience and one private, first hypostyle halls with ionian greeks columns. The plan of the palaces were about simple and not yet symetrical, but within 2 generations of kings, the persian magnifiscence will raise summits of perfection and beauty at Persepolis and Susa.
Pasargadae's palaces were surounded by magnificent gardens, wich were known for having been created by Cyrus himself. The beauty of these gardens became legendary as athenian ancient scholar Xenophon himself reported in his Anabasis and his Cyropaedia. This statement was also repeated by Plato. Their name "Paeredysios" have even a legacy in our actual vocabulary as it evolved and gave the word "Paradise", showing us wich kind of heaven imaging was attached to these gardens.Autor: Raffi Kojian, Licencja: CC BY 2.5
