100 m stylem dowolnym mężczyzn – jedna z konkurencji pływackich rozgrywanych podczas XIX Igrzysk Olimpijskich w Meksyku. Eliminacje i półfinały odbyły się 18 października, a finał 19 października 1968 roku.
Mistrzem olimpijskim został Australijczyk Michael Wenden, ustanawiając w finale nowy rekord świata (52,2). Pozostałe miejsca na podium zajęli reprezentanci Stanów Zjednoczonych: Kenneth Walsh, z czasem 52,8, zdobył srebro, a Mark Spitz wywalczył brąz (53,0).
Dzień wcześniej, w drugim półfinale, rekord olimpijski wyrównał Amerykanin Zachary Zorn (53,4). Kilka minut później rekord ten pobił Michael Wenden, uzyskawszy czas 52,9.
