100 m stylem dowolnym kobiet – jedna z konkurencji pływackich, które odbyły się podczas XXIX Igrzysk Olimpijskich. Eliminacje miały miejsce 13 sierpnia, półfinał 14 sierpnia a finał konkurencji 15 sierpnia. Wszystkie etapy konkurencji przeprowadzone zostały na Pływalni Olimpijskiej w Pekinie.

Mistrzynią olimpijską została reprezentantka Niemiec Britta Steffen, która w finale pobiła rekord olimpijski (53,12), ustanowiony przez nią kilka dni wcześniej w sztafecie 4 x 100 m stylem dowolnym. Na drugim miejscu z czasem 53,16 uplasowała się rekordzistka świata Lisbeth Trickett z Australii, która zakwalifikowała się do finału dzięki dyskwalifikacji Chinki Pang Jiaying. Brązowy medal zdobyła Natalie Coughlin reprezentująca Stany Zjednoczone, która uzyskała czas 53,39.
