200 m stylem klasycznym kobiet – jedna z konkurencji pływackich, które odbyły się podczas XXIX Igrzysk Olimpijskich. Eliminacje miały miejsce 13 sierpnia, półfinał 14 sierpnia a finał konkurencji 15 sierpnia. Wszystkie etapy konkurencji przeprowadzone zostały na Pływalni Olimpijskiej w Pekinie.
Mistrzynią olimpijską została Amerykanka Rebecca Soni, która w finale pobiła rekord świata (2:20,22). Srebrny medal zdobyła wicemistrzyni sprzed czterech lat, Leisel Jones z Australii, uzyskując czas 2:22,05. Brąz wywalczyła reprezentantka Norwegii Sara Nordenstam, która ustanowiła nowy rekord Europy (2:23,02).
Wcześniej, płynąc w eliminacjach, z czasem 2:22,17 Soni pobiła rekord olimpijski.
Tytułu broniła Amanda Beard ze Stanów Zjednoczonych, ale nie zakwalifikowała się do półfinałów i zajęła ostatecznie 18. miejsce.
