Wyścig na 200 m stylem motylkowym kobiet był jedną z konkurencji pływackich rozgrywanych podczas XXX Igrzysk Olimpijskich w Londynie.
Wyznaczone przez FINA minima kwalifikacyjne wynosiły 2:08.95 (minimum A) oraz 2:13.46 (minimum B)[1].
Obrończynią tytułu z Pekinu była Liu Zige.
Rywalizacja rozpoczęła się 31 lipca o 10:23 czasu londyńskiego, półfinały rozegrane zostały tego samego dnia o 19:57. Finał konkurencji odbył się dzień później o 20:12[2].
Mistrzynią olimpijską w tej konkurencji została Chinka Jiao Liuyang, ustanawiając rekord olimpijski.
