Rywalizacja w wadze do 52 kg mężczyzn w podnoszeniu ciężarów na Letnich Igrzyskach Olimpijskich 1972 odbyła się 27 sierpnia 1972 roku w hali Gewichtheberhalle. W rywalizacji wystartowało 17 zawodników z 13 krajów. Był to debiut tej kategorii wagowej w programie olimpijskim. Mistrzem olimpijskim został Polak Zygmunt Smalcerz, srebrny medal wywalczył Węgier Lajos Szűcs, a trzecie miejsce zajął jego rodak - Sándor Holczreiter.
