Bismuth crystal macro.jpg
Autor: Dschwen, Licencja: CC BY 2.5
Bismuth crystal. Bottom front edge has a length of about 3.5cm. Iridescent colour is created due to interference effects in a thin oxide layer, which forms when the hot crystal is pulled out of the bismuth melt.

A San Diego beach scene drawn with an eight color palette of bacterial colonies expressing fluorescent proteins derived from GFP and the red-fluorescent coral protein dsRed. The colors include BFP, mTFP1, Emerald, Citrine, mOrange, mApple, mCherry and mGrape. Artwork by Nathan Shaner, photography by Paul Steinbach, created in the lab of Roger Tsien in 2006.

Molecular Modeling.png
Autor: , Licencja: CC BY-SA 3.0
3D render of a molecular model. The molecule is alanine peptide. The shroud represents the region of hydrophobic repulsion, where the strength of the hydrophobic effect is approximately proportional to the surface area of the shroud. The shroud, shown extending only over the back of the molecule extends all the way around it. This diagram can be used to demonstrate the variation in potential energy as bonds shift either in rotation, angle or translation, as seen in the image MM_PEF_3.png.
