Prastio is a purely Cypriot community of the North part of the District of Gazimagusa, Northern Cyprus

Geographical Location: It lies 19 klm West of the town of Gazimagusa.

Population: The population of this community in 1960 numbered 976.

Schools: The Cypriot Primary School that operated here before the Turkish Intervention of 1974 had during the 1973-74 school year 114 students.

Effects of Enosis junta: During the Greek junta of 1974 the community was taken over by the Greek army and as a result the whole of its Turkish Cypriot population was displaced or killed. The Turkish army had to intervene to save them as a guarantor.
