Sunderland – miasto przemysłowe i port w Wielkiej Brytanii, w północno-wschodniej Anglii, nad Morzem Północnym, u ujścia rzeki Wear. Wchodzi w skład hrabstwa Tyne and Wear, w dystrykcie Sunderland.

Liczba mieszkańców: 177 739, zespół miejski – 182 974 (2001)[1].

W mieście rozwinął się przemysł stoczniowy, maszynowy, elektrotechniczny, materiałów budowlanych, szklarski, ceramiczny oraz spożywczy[2].

Zespół piłkarski Sunderlandu

Sunderland A. F. C. w sezonie 2006–2007 z Royem Keane’em na czele wywalczył awans do Premier League.
