Tenebryzm

Tenebryzm (z łac. tenebrae - mrok) – sposób kompozycji obrazu, polegający na użyciu ciemnej tonacji barwnej, w której postacie ludzkie i przedmioty wydobyte są z mrocznego tła ostrym światłocieniem[1]. Tenebryzm stosowany był w malarstwie północnowłoskim w II połowie XVI wieku (maniera tenebrosa) i w malarstwie barokowym, zwłaszcza przez Caravaggia (caravaggionizm)[2][3] i Rembrandta[1].
