Theranos – amerykańskie przedsiębiorstwo biotechnologiczne z siedzibą w Palo Alto w Kalifornii, istniejące w latach 2003–2018. We wrześniu 2018 roku przedsiębiorstwo ogłosiło upadłość.
Firmę, pierwotnie pod nazwą „Real-Time Cures”, założyła 19-letnia Elizabeth Holmes, była studentka Uniwersytetu Stanforda[1]. Theranos produkował urządzenia, które miały wykonywać pełny zakres testów laboratoryjnych krwi w ciągu kilku godzin, korzystając tylko z jednej kropli krwi. Jednak testy wykazały, że technologia firmy działała tylko w 12 na 100 przypadków[2].
W roku 2014 firma była wyceniana na 9 mld USD. Po śledztwie The Wall Street Journal, które wykazało oszustwa podczas testów, Departament Sprawiedliwości Stanów Zjednoczonych wniósł oskarżenie przeciwko założycielom Theranosa o oszukanie inwestorów na kwotę około miliarda dolarów[2][1]. W listopadzie 2022 sąd w Kalifornii skazał Elisabeth Holmes na 11 lat więzienia za defraudację[3].
