USS John F. Kennedy (CVN-79) – amerykański lotniskowiec z napędem jądrowym w budowie. Jednostka o wyporności 100 000 długich ton, budowana jest w należącej do koncernu Huntington Ingalls Industries (spółka zależna Northrop Grumman) stoczni Newport News. Okręt jest drugim w kolejności lotniskowcem nowej generacji typu Gerald R. Ford. Początek budowy okrętu nastąpił wraz z pierwszym cięciem blach 25 lutego 2011 roku[1]. Ceremonia położenia stępki miała miejsce 22 sierpnia 2015 roku w Newport News w stanie Wirginia. Pierwotnie zakładano wejście jednostki do służby w 2024 roku[2] jednak dzięki doświadczeniom zdobytym podczas budowy USS Gerald R. Ford, prace konstrukcyjne wyprzedzały założony harmonogram. Wodowanie nowego okrętu rozpoczęło się trzy miesiące przed terminem, 29 października 2019 roku. 7 grudnia 2019 r. okręt został ochrzczony. Obecnie planuje się przekazanie jednostki marynarce w 2022 r.[3]

The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CVN-79) reached another construction milestone on 29 October 2019, as its dry dock area was flooded three months ahead of its slated production schedule, leading up to the christening of the second Ford-class aircraft carrier on 7 December 2019. The flooding of the dry dock followed other milestones, including the laying of the ship's keel on 22 August 2015, the placement of the 588-metric ton island superstructure on 29 May 2019, and the arrival of her crew on 1 October 2019. John F. Kennedy was constructed at Huntington Ingalls Industries-Newport News Shipbuilding, Newport News, Virginia (USA).
