Unearth – amerykańska grupa muzyczna wykonująca metalcore.

Historia

Debiutancki album grupy The Stings of Conscience odbił się głośnym echem w podziemnej scenie metalcore'owej. Ich muzyka to połączenie nowoczesnego metalu i hardcore'u, jednak często wykraczają poza granice gatunku, jak np. w swoim albumie III: In the Eyes of Fire, gdzie wprowadzili trochę thrashmetalowego brzmienia. Znani są również z tego, że grają na siedmiostrunowych gitarach, podczas gdy basista korzysta z pięciostrunowego basu.

Derek Kerswill był w latach 2003-2009 aktywny w formacji Seemless, którą założył wraz z byłym wokalistą Killswitch Engage, Jesse'm Leach'em. Jest on także członkiem zespołu Kingdom of Sorrow, a także współtworzy projekt Burn Your Wishes wraz z Adamem Dutkiewiczem (Killswitch Engage), który był producentem wszystkich albumów studyjnych Unearth. Po odejściu z Unearth w 2010 Kerswill oraz były basista grupy Seemless Jeff Fultz stworzyli projekt muzyczny pod nazwą Dead Of Night (jego członkami są także gitarzyści grupy Shadows Fall: Jonathan Donais i Matt Bachand oraz wokalista Jason Witte, znany z grupy Goaded)[3].

Na 2011 zaplanowano premierę nowego albumu grupy, której producentem został ponownie Adam Dutkiewicz. Płyta została raz jeszcze wydana nakładem wytwórni Metal Blade Records[4]. Do nagrań zaangażowano perkusistę Justina Foleya z Killswitch Engage[5]. Album zatytułowany Darkness in the Light miał premierę 5 lipca 2011[6].

W styczniu 2012 poinformowano, że nowym perkusistą zespołu został Nick Pierce, który w 2011 jednorazowo wystąpił z zespołem podczas koncertu, a sami muzycy Unearth poznali go dzięki jego interpretacjom muzyki Unearth na perkusji, publikowanym przez niego na stronie internetowej YouTube.

28 października 2014 ukazała się szósta płyta Unearth, pt. Watchers of Rule[7]. W tym samym roku grupę opuścił gitarzysta basowy, który nie wziął udziału w nagraniach tego albumu.
