Ważki Polski
Ważki (Odonata) są drapieżnymi owadami dwuśrodowiskowymi ściśle związanymi ze środowiskiem wodnym – larwy żyją w wodzie, a osobniki dorosłe (imagines) przebywają w pobliżu zbiorników z wodą stojącą lub płynącą. Mają bardzo dobrze rozwinięty aparat lotu i zmysł wzroku.
Badania ważek w Polsce sięgają początków polskiej entomologii (początek XIX wieku). Do 2007 roku wydano około 500 prac poświęconych ważkom Polski[1]. Od 1998 roku polscy odonatolodzy są zrzeszeni w Sekcji Odonatologicznej Polskiego Towarzystwa Entomologicznego.
W odonatofaunie Polski stwierdzono występowanie 75 gatunków, w tym 2 gatunki (Coenagrion mercuriale i Gomphus pulchellus) zostały błędnie wykazane w starej literaturze, choć ich wystąpienie w Polsce uważa się za możliwe[2][3].
Rząd Odonata reprezentowany jest w Polsce przez przedstawicieli 9 rodzin, w tym 5 zaliczanych do ważek różnoskrzydłych (Anisoptera), a 4 do równoskrzydłych (Zygoptera).
Znakiem oznaczono gatunki chronione na terenie Polski[4]. Symbolami VU, EN i CR oznaczono odpowiednią kategorię zagrożenia danego gatunku określoną w Polskiej Czerwonej Księdze Zwierząt[5]:
- VU – gatunki wysokiego ryzyka narażone na wyginięcie ze względu na postępujący spadek populacyjny,
- EN – gatunki bardzo wysokiego ryzyka, silnie zagrożone wyginięciem w kraju,
- CR – gatunki skrajnie zagrożone, których liczebność zmalała w kraju do poziomu krytycznego.
W rubryce "Loty" podano przybliżone okresy lotów osobników dorosłych.

Consider the uniformly brightly colored compound eyes and the gloss of the not yet completely hardened wings, which refer to freshly hatched individuals. Ripe specimens are nearly only found patrolling.

Die Gestreifte Quelljungfer (Cordulegaster bidentata) ist 8 cm lang und hat eine Flügelspannweite von 10 cm. Äußerlich ähnelt diese Quelljungfernart sehr der Zweigestreiften Quelljungfer (Cordulegaster boltonii), doch ist auf dem mittleren Hinterleibsring nur ein Querstreifen und das Hinterhauptdreieck ist nur schwarz. gesehen in der Nähe von Schuttannen in Hohenems.

Hairy Dragonfly (Brachtyron pratense) The earliest flying Hawker dragonfly. Found in areas of clean, stagnant, well-vegetated waters but quite localised. Appears to have just eaten a damselfly, judging by the wing visible just left of its left eye. This area has a huge number of damselflies - 10000 is probably a conservative estimate - so has plenty of food.
