Wari^[3] (Varecia) – rodzaj ssaka z rodziny lemurowatych (Lemuridae).

Zasięg występowania

Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące na Madagaskarze^[4]^[5]^[6].

Morfologia

Długość ciała (bez ogona) 50–55 cm, długość ogona 60–65 cm; masa ciała 3–3,7 kg^[5].

Systematyka

Etymologia

Varecia: malgaska nazwa vari lub varicossi dla wari czarno-białego zaadaptowana przez Georges-Louis Leclerca w 1765 roku^[7]; Dunkel i współpracownicy (2012) sugerują że nazwa mogła też pochodzić od malgaskiej nazwy „warck” dla wari lub podobnej wielkości lemurów^[8].
