Welsh Open był piątym turniejem rankingowym sezonu snookerowego 2006/2007. W dniach 12 – 18 lutego 2007 roku miejscem jego rozegrania była hala widowiskowa Newport Centre w Newport. Obrońcą tytułu mistrzowskiego był Stephen Lee, który przegrał w swoim pierwszym meczu z Nigelem Bondem 2:5.
Zwycięzcą turnieju został Neil Robertson, który w finale pokonał rewelację imprezy, Andrew Higginsona 9:8. Australijczyk po pierwszej sesji prowadził 6:2, lecz Anglik doprowadził do stanu 8:6. Ostatnie trzy frejmy - i cały turniej - wygrał jednak Robertson.
W Polsce turniej transmitowała stacja komercyjna Eurosport.
Wydarzenia
- Andrew Higginson w drugim framie meczu ćwierćfinałowym z Allisterem Carterem wbił pierwszego w swojej karierze breaka maksymalnego 147 punktów.
- Neil Robertson w czwartym framie meczu 1/8 finału ze Stephenem Hendrym wyrównał najwyższego breaka w swojej karierze (141 punktów).
- Peter Ebdon w decydującym framie meczu drugiej rundy z Dave’em Haroldem ustawił trudnego snookera za bilą czarną, lecz przypadkowo wbił bilę zieloną, co oznaczało, że sam musiał zagrywać z tej pozycji. Nie udało mu się zaliczyć bili brązowej i w efekcie przegrał mecz.
