For 1953, the boxy shape was changed for straighter lines, with sleeker and more modern styling. The windshield went to a modern one-piece unit; and the door handles pulled out instead of twisting. The glove box was moved to the center for easier access by the driver. Generally the Cranbrook name ended in 1953 and was replaced by the Belvedere but this Cranbrook has the 1954 styling, maybe a car unique to Australia. Similar to the 1953 car, in 1954 the central bar of the grille still continued around into the fenders but got more of a chrome feature in the centre Engine; 218 cu in 6 cyl
