Opis:

Aeromarine 40 flying boat wrecked in the Gulf of Bacabano, Cuba. This aircraft, whose Aircraft Record card states that it had been converted to a Model 41 type, was assigned to assist USS Hannibal in survey work. It hit something on the water or broke a hole in its hull by hitting a wave, leaving the plane's wings and hull unfit for further use. It was subsequently stricken from the list of Navy aircraft. Pilot was Lieutenant (Junior Grade) John H. Hykes, USN.
