The true basis of architectural design isthe plan. The plan of a structure absolutelydetermines the character of that structure.This is true not only with respect to thefulfillment of the requirements for completeliving, but also with respect to its lines,forms, and mass. In general, a plan that ismore complicated (i. e., less orderly anddirect) than need be is a bad plan, and willresult in poor architecture.
