This photo Crinum ornatum of the family Amaryllidaceae was taken in the Pendjari National Park. Very popular often considered as ornamental bulbs. Crinum ornatum with long, ribbon-shaped leaves produces beautiful, pale pink or white flowers with a darker, sometimes crimson pink band along each of their amaryllidaceae segments. These flowers come out at the base of the leaves. Crinum ornatum are perennial terrestrial herbs whose roots grow to form bulbs that are mainly found in tropical areas It grows well in wetlands, along streams (rivers, lakes) as in forest galleries, riverine forests or savannahs.
